2.2 Installing the License Manager

Since November 2024, VIBES updated the licensing system of all software. The new license manager is no longer embedded in the software but needs to be installed separately by the user.

Step 1: Uninstall the old VIBES Licensing service (if applicable)

If you were one of the selected users to test our new licensing system, you need to upgrade to the most recent one. For this reason, you first need to manually uninstall the older versions. To do so, complete the next steps:

1. Go to Control Panel.
2. Go to Uninstall a program.
3. Search for “VIBES”
4. Uninstall any app called VIBES Licensing Service.

Step 2: Install .NET 6.0 and ASP.NET

VIBES applications run on the Microsoft .NET framework. Although usually this comes bundled with Windows, we recommend you install the following specific runtimes manually, to ensure a smooth installation process:

• Microsoft ASP.NET Core Runtime (Windows; x64)
• Microsoft .NET 6.0 Desktop Runtime (Windows; x64)

To install the two, complete the next steps:

1. Go to this link: https://dotnet.microsoft.com/en-us/download/dotnet/6.0
2. Download the ASP.NET Core Runtime for Windows x64.
3. Download the .NET Desktop Runtime for Windows x64.

Step 3: Install the new VIBES License Manager

After getting the .NET programs, you need to download and install the VIBES License Manager from the VIBES Portal. To do so, complete the next steps:

1. Login to the VIBES Portal.
2. Click Files (left side menu). A new page will open.
3. Click Shared with me.
4. Click the folder License Manager.
5. Download the latest version.
6. Unzip and run the installer, using the default settings.

Step 4: Import new licenses

With the new license manager, you need new licenses. For fixed licenses, you will need a *.vlic file, while for floating licenses a *.JSON file.
