5.3 Creating assemblies with empty parts

Instead of directly creating the final assembly with all the components, you can also add empty assembly parts and fill them in with components, loads and stiffness at a later stage. You can also create interfaces and link empty parts in advance.

Adding empty assembly parts

You can add empty assembly parts to the design area that you can fill with models at a later stage.

To add an empty assembly part to the design area, complete the next steps:

  1. Go to Create in the fly-in library.
  2. Drag and drop the New component block to the design area.

Adding interfaces to empty assembly parts

You can add interfaces to the empty assembly parts in order to link them with other parts.

To add interfaces, complete the next steps:

  1. Click on the outer border of the empty assembly part.

Adding models to empty assembly parts

When adding models to the empty assembly parts, you also need to correctly map the interfaces.

To add models to theempty parts, complete the next steps:

  1. Drag and drop the model on the empty assembly part.
  2. If needed, edit the interfaces mapping by drag and drop.
  3. Click Close.

You can edit the interface mapping of existing components in the Inspector.
